Data Platform Architect
Shape the Modern Data Platform as Data Platform Architect: craft blueprints, guardrails, and governance with Azure, Databricks, and Collibra to empower teams.
About the Role
Our client is advancing its Modern Data Platform initiative and is seeking a Data Platform Architect to lead the deployment of the target architecture defined during the prior study phase. As part of this transformation, a structured migration of existing on‑premise data products and the current data warehouse will be executed in line with the program’s roadmap.
This role is fully architecture‑focused: rather than implementing solutions directly, you will define the blueprints, golden paths, recommendations, and guardrails that guide technical leads and engineering teams throughout the platform’s evolution.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure architectural consistency, high‑quality delivery, and long‑term scalability of the modern data platform.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Design
Provide architectural guidance to the Cloud team on the deployment and configuration of platform workloads within the Azure environment.
Define guidelines ensuring platform components comply with our client's architectural principles.
Produce architectural blueprints for Databricks (DBX), Microsoft Fabric, and data‑modeling approaches to support Proof‑of‑Value initiatives.
Engineering & CI/CD (Advisory Role)
Develop recommended CI/CD templates and best‑practice engineering workflows.
Provide guidance on testing and validation approaches for data pipelines aligned with CI/CD standards.
Collaboration & Governance
Work with subject matter experts to establish practical architecture standards for DBX and CI/CD.
Ensure that engineering teams adhere to architectural guidelines and platform principles.
Support teams in resolving challenges that arise from architectural decisions.
Recommend governance principles for data products to ensure consistency and clarity across teams.
Define the architectural plan for integrating Databricks (DBX) with the Collibra data catalog.
Expected Experience & Competencies
Technical Expertise
Strong experience with Azure platform services (data, compute, security).
Ability to design architectures leveraging Databricks (DBX) and lakehouse concepts.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric.
Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and tooling such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
Experience defining cloud‑native data engineering guidelines and standards.
Architecture & Governance
Solid background in data architecture, data modeling, and platform design.
Strong knowledge of architectural best practices and security‑by‑design principles.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools such as Collibra.
Exposure to data‑product‑oriented architecture approaches.
Collaboration & Delivery
Ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs and technical leads in a guidance‑focused role.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Comfortable working with a mix of internal teams and external consultants.
