Based: Brussels, Belgium
Introduce yourself, your role and your educational background.
I’m Alexandre Lefevre, a Data Engineer at Orange Business.
I studied Computer Science at EPHEC (Louvain-la-Neuve), where I gained a strong foundation in software development and IT systems.
Later, I specialized in data technologies through a program at Technofutur TIC, focusing on data engineering, ETL pipelines, and tools like Python and SQL
" I gradually specialized in data engineering, turning my foundation in computer science into a focus on data, automation and real-world solutions. "
You started in 2023 as an intern, how has your role evolved since you joined?
Since joining Orange Business in 2023 as an intern, my role has evolved significantly through hands-on experience and diverse projects.
Between 2023 and 2025, I worked as a Campaign Operator at Carrefour, where I focused on customer targeting, data analysis, and campaign reporting.
I also worked closely with marketing teams to optimize customer journeys and measure campaign performance, while further developing my skills in SQL, data segmentation, and KPI tracking.
I then moved to Sappi for a year, working on data transformation and ingestion. During that mission, I transitioned further into data engineering, specializing in data pipelines, ETL processes, and system integrations. I also built expertise in data quality, transformation logic, and cloud-based ingestion tools.
Since July 2026, I have returned to Carrefour, this time as part of the Targeting Team. In this role, I lead process optimization, automation, and recommendations for the team, with a focus on improving efficiency, reducing manual work, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Overall, this journey has allowed me to grow from a data analyst into a data engineer, while keeping a strong focus on practical problem-solving and automation.
“I’ve grown from working with data to engineering the processes behind it, always with a strong focus on practical problem-solving and automation.”
What's the coolest project you've worked on?
The coolest project I’ve worked on was during my data transformation and ingestion mission at Sappi in 2025–2026. It was both technically challenging and highly rewarding, especially because the client’s energy and electricity context required a strong understanding of the business.
"My project really challenged me to combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of the client’s business."
What technologies do you enjoy working with the most?
I particularly enjoy working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially BigQuery and Dataform, which I used at Sappi to transform raw data into clean, end-to-end solutions for business users.
What made you choose Orange Business over other opportunities?
I didn’t actually apply anywhere else. I was recruited directly through Technofutur’s training program, so the opportunity with Orange Business came through that path.
What makes me stay is the work itself: I feel genuinely valued for my contributions, and the teams are incredibly supportive and collaborative. It offers a great balance of challenge, learning, and growth.
“I came to Orange Business through Technofutur, but what makes me stay is feeling valued and having the space to keep learning and growing.”
What does collaboration look like in your day-to-day work?
Collaboration is part of my daily routine, through regular meetings with clients and the Orange Business team, ongoing email exchanges, and handling different requests, all within a professional and positive atmosphere.
What advice would you give your first-day self?
I would tell myself to take more time with my first deliverables and to prioritize quality and precision over speed. Building a solid foundation from the start helps avoid rework and unnecessary stress later on.
“Take the time to get it right: quality and precision will save you more time than rushing ever will.”
How would you describe working at Orange Business in one sentence?
A supportive and collaborative environment where you can focus on delivering quality work with trust, autonomy, and peace of mind.
One app you can't live without?
Claude Code and AI tools, of course. I believe we all need to make this transition, as these technologies are becoming too powerful and valuable to ignore.
