Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you first came in contact with Orange Business?
My name is Emma and as of this interview, it has been nearly 6 years since I joined Orange Business and started my incredible journey here. Before joining, I had worked in online communications for over a decade when an opportunity to join Orange Business came my way. Time has flown since then, and it has been a delight to work alongside such passionate colleagues with a can-do attitude. Every day brings something new to learn.
Do you remember what influenced your decision to join Orange Business? For me, it was the job description – it was a great match with my previous experience. Beyond that, I was motivated by the chance to join one of the leading consultancy companies in Luxembourg, and it turned out to be the perfect fit.
What does your role as a Web Editor entail and what are your responsibilities?
As a Web Editor, I am an integral part of a team of 6. My main responsibility is to find the right tone for all the messages and content we communicate externally. I initially joined as a web publisher, and over a few years, my responsibilities grew, leading to a promotion to Web Editor. Today, I also mentor and lead a team of web publishers.
What fascinates me about this role is how fast-paced the industry is. For example, I regularly collaborate with our experts from Orange Business to improve the website's functionality, making the messaging more accessible. In simple terms, our clients trust us to enhance their online presence.
Can you tell us a bit more about the current mission you are working on?
Since the start of my career with Orange Business, I have been working with the same client, who is a long-standing and important client for us. I am a fully integrated member of the client’s communications team, where my role is to ensure optimal online presence of their messages about the teams I oversee.
In parallel, I also lead and support a team of web publishers, who are such a critical part of our success as a web team. It is a rewarding experience to oversee content and the team that helps bring it to life.
What do you enjoy the most about your work?
The answer for this is very simple, it is the people and the talent I am surrounded with. I learn something new every day and am proud to see how much I have grown over the years here!
What education and background do you have to be able to do this job and what was the latest training or certification you took?
My career path might seem a bit atypical, but it aligns well when you consider how young the web publishing industry is. I began my journey studying professional cookery and as an English tutor at a computer engineering school. This combination gave me strong qualifications in communication and problem solving, which ultimately led me into web publishing.
Given how fast this industry evolves, continuous training is essential. My most recent training was on accessibility, an area I find interesting. I have been advocating with my client to take accessibility a step further, ensuring we reach a broader audience and comply with EU legislation.
What do you personally enjoy the most about working at Orange Business, the Digital Services business line?
Orange Business Luxembourg is a dynamic and international workplace, which, for me, makes it a great place to work! Everyone is included in all activities, which helps foster a sense of unity among the many different profiles within the company. We frequently have opportunities to connect – not just on a professional level, but also to build friendships and create lasting memories. For me, it is the genuine sense of community we have that makes everything worthwhile.
