Denodo Data Virtualization Engineer
The team, position & mission:
We are looking for a hands-on Denodo Data Virtualization Engineer to join our dynamic data team.The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in SQL and data integration, with proven experience designing, building and optimizing data virtualization layers using Denodo. You will play a key role in enabling federated analytics, simplifying data access and accelerating delivery across multiple data domains.
Your key areas of responsibility as a Denodo Data Virtualization Engineer:
- Design, build, and maintain Denodo views (base, derived, interface, summary) to enable governed, scalable, and reusable data services.
- Develop and optimize Denodo data pipelines, including data federation, caching strategies and query optimization.
- Implement data virtualization patterns such as abstraction layers, canonical models, semantic layers, and API exposure via Denodo.
- Participate in data modeling activities to ensure the virtual layer aligns with enterprise data architecture and performance standards.
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into Denodo views, REST APIs and data services.
- Monitor and tune Denodo performance, including execution plans, caching and delegation to source systems.
- Integrate Denodo with the broader ecosystem (identity management, monitoring, CI/CD, metadata/catalog tools).
- Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and architects to troubleshoot data issues and ensure high-quality data delivery.
As an ideal candidate you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2–4+ years of experience working with Denodo (or at least 3+ years with data integration and virtualization concepts if transitioning to Denodo).
- Strong SQL skills, including complex query development and performance tuning.
- Extensive experience and strong proficiency in data virtualization, modeling, and integration patterns.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and optionally NoSQL technologies
- Experience with metadata dictionary, data lineage and governance tools (e.g. Denodo Data Catalog, DataGalaxy, Purview)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, autonomy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in French and English (verbal & written)
It is not a requirement, but other preferred qualifications would be:
- Knowledge of CI/CD (e.g. Denodo Solution Manager), Git, APIs,
authentication/authorization (OAuth, SSO) and security best practices is
a plus. - Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and complementary
tools such as Azure Data Factory, Fabric, Databricks, DBT or Snowflake
is a plus.
