Get to know Francisco
Name: Francisco Falero
Position: Data Analytics Consultant
Worked at Orange Business since: January 2022
Based: Madrid, Spain
Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background and experience?
I am Venezuelan and I used to live in Venezuela until about seven years ago. I initially studied Political Science, and before joining Orange Business, I worked for a consultancy firm in communications. My role involved strategic communication, data analysis, social media analysis, building dashboards, and working with tools like Tableau, PowerBI and Google Data Studio.
How did you come in contact with Orange Business?
As I grew more interested in the analytical aspects of my previous role, specially creating dashboards, I realized this was an area I wanted to explore and develop further. I worked to deepen my knowledge and started looking for opportunities aligned with this interest and came across a vacancy at Orange Business here in Spain. I applied and was contacted by Ana soon after. I really appreciated the communication through the process as it felt personal, and the connection felt easy from the start. The quick, personalized approach and the sense of belonging I felt right away were key factors in my decision to join Orange Business, and they remain some of the things I enjoy the most about working here.
Can you tell us a bit about your position as a Data Analytics Consultant, what are your responsibilities and what are you currently working on?
Generally, there are two main aspects to my role: data analytics and reporting through dashboard creation. I am currently working on a project for a Belgian client in the chemistry sector with a project focusing on reporting. My responsibility is to understand the business requirements, translate them into technical specifications and then build the dashboards tailored for the users. The goal is to make it easy for lab workers across different domains to access and interpret the results of their experiments. I find this project particularly exciting because it allows us to be closely involved in the client’s core business activities and handle vast amounts of data used by many people daily, rather than producing reports only utilized by a few numbers of users.
In addition to the responsibilities and the aim of the project, what else makes you enjoy this specific assignment?
I have been working on this assignment for a while now, and when I first joined, I worked alongside a senior colleague from whom I learned a lot. Over time, I gained valuable knowledge, and now I have the chance to guide and coach another colleague from our office in Lyon who is also involved in the project. I appreciate that our team consists of a diverse mix of people from France, Belgium, Canada, the US etc., each brining different backgrounds, experiences, and technical skills. The diversity creates a rich learning environment and gives the project a unique international atmosphere.
What do you enjoy the most about working as a Data Analytics Consultant?
What I enjoy most is understanding business needs, translating them into technical requirements, and then creating beautiful, user-friendly solutions that the users can rely on daily. Knowing that the tools I develop will be used by others to perform their jobs effectively motivates me, and I really value the interaction I have with these users to help solve their everyday challenges.
You have already mentioned that you appreciate the close and personal connection you have with your colleagues in Madrid, are there any other things you personally enjoy about working at Orange Business, the Digital Services business line?
It really ties into what I mentioned earlier. I love the work environment here; people genuinely enjoy meeting and collaborating with each other. The atmosphere is hard to beat, and it is something that is often highlighted when we talk about what makes Orange Business here in Madrid special. There is a strong sense of mutual appreciation among colleagues, and that is something I value a lot.
