Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you first came in contact with Orange Business?
I was introduced to Orange Business through a headhunter whom I know from my previous experience in hospitality and event management where I spent 15 years while simultaneously pursuing an academic degree. When having completed my academic degree, I went into IT working for the Municipality of Amsterdam where I developed and worked to implement new methods and techniques in process analysis and to enhance management information. Apart from my professional career and my family, I find joy in making music and running marathons. While cycling used to be my passion, time constraints led me to embrace running, which has proven to be fun as well.
Can you tell us a bit about your position as a Business Analyst, what are your responsibilities and what are you currently working on?
As a Business Analyst, my responsibilities vary depending on the projects I work on. Currently I am working on a project for a medical tech company client, focused on developing an app tailored to ease the life of diabetes patients. We are operating in a highly regulated environment due to the profile of the company and the sensitive nature of the project in which I am fulfilling dual roles. Firstly, I have been designing a decommission strategy to phase out a legacy app. Simultaneously, I have been collaborating with a colleague from Orange Business to create a new app. Currently, we are enhancing the app with new features and strategizing its expansion and rollout in other countries. It has been a challenging, complicated, and stimulating journey that I have been part of for about 2 years.
What do you enjoy the most about your work and your position?
That would have to be that there is no dull moment due to the very complex ecosystems IT wise. This results in constant learning as comprehending the entirety of the situation at once is not feasible. This dynamic environment keeps you engaged, on your feet and demands proactive thinking which I find very enjoyable. Above all, I take pride in being able to add value through my contributions.
What education and background do you have to be able to do this job?
My journey into the IT field was a gradual transition rather than a deliberate choice. Despite lacking a hardcore data background, I credit my academic degree for giving me the analytical skills necessary in various complex environments. I have acquired certifications tailored to the demands of the sector and the direction I want to develop in, including both technical and soft skills. I have, for example, learnt coding, to work with different data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI. However, my primary focus remains on analyzing business requirements, which constitutes a significant aspect of my day-to-day job.
What is the latest training you have taken?
My most recent technical training was to become certified in MySQL, however more attention has been directed to enhancing my agility and interpersonal skills. Consequently, I have studied to become certified for PSM1 and PSPO1.
What do you personally enjoy the most about working at Orange Business, the Digital Services business line?
I would say that it is that we have a good group of people and that I appreciate it is being prioritized that we meet for some fun events throughout the year. We have, for example, been sailing, taking a kickboxing class together and gone on trips to e.g. Berlin and Marocco which has been a lot of fun and a great opportunity for us all to meet.
